New year, new spirit!! That’s the kind of spirit we have here in Yayasan Hayandra Peduli. It was that spirit indeed, which moved us to conduct a garage sale to raise fund for free cataract operation for 6 patients. The garage sale, was conducted on January 22-24, 2010. Though it was our first, the responses we got were very positive. The short period of preparation did not caused the event to lack of visitors.
Fantastically, although it was called a “Garage Sale”, more than half of the goods that were sent in for sales were new goods. The goods were contributed by beloved contributors who have high sympathy towards the objectives and the activities of the foundation. The garage sale offered many items, ranging from clothing, children toys, to house ornaments like decorative vase. The visitors were mostly friends of the foundation, fellow practitioners, surrounding community at the foundation office and even passers-by.
Most visitors were satisfied with the event, mainly because they felt that they have made good use of their money. 100% of the sales were proceeded for the cataract cause.
We had seen a successful event indeed. Though we have set a deadline for the garage sale, many people are still sending in more goods, and thus the sales are still on-going. As it is not yet final, you may check the amount of fund raised through this event in our list of donation, which we will report periodically. Therefore, it is our new year resolution here in Yayasan Hayandra Peduli to spread out the spirit of “Start the New Year With Charity”. We will continue to seek more helping hands for the needs this year and in the future, and we surely will keep you inform and invited in our events! Who knows, we might even have the same resolution.
