Healthy Eyes for Everyone

On Sunday, March 28, 2010, the Hayandra Foundation conducts another “Free Eye Examination” for the residents of the vision impaired care house, Panti Tuna Netra Tan Miyat, Bekasi Timur.

The free eye examination is conducted as one of the regular activities of our foundation, as a way in providing specialist medicine services to the impoverished.

The activity was conducted at the Eye Clinic belonging to a senior opthalmologist dr. Ratna Mahyuddin SpM, at Pondok Bambu, Jakarta Timur.

This time, the Hayandra Foundation worked together with three (3) opthalmologist and a refractionist in providing the eye examination to 30 residents of the house with “low vision”.

The eye examination included general examination to check the eye condition through visus checking; examination using slit-lamp funduscopy; treatment whenever irregularity or illness were found; and planning further treatment/intervention if necessary, such as surgery.

The target of the eye examination, who were children and adults ranging from 9 to 30 year-olds, were very happy and grateful of the activity, where they were able to have more access to specialist medicine services than otherwise the once every 1-2 year assistance from the government.

The organizer of the Panti hopes that the good coordination and relationship built with the foundation can last, and that this activity can become a recurrent activity once every two months. The Hayandra Foundation indeed, has similar expectation. Both parties commit to plan a follow up action to put the hopes into reality.
